N + J’s Shelburne Farms wedding has a special place in my heart – I grew up just down the road from Shelburne Farms, and I loved when we went there as kids and I got to pretend the buildings were my castle. When I photograph weddings there now, it’s a similar feeling of grandeur, but it’s the couple’s castle.
One of my favorite moments of the day was hanging out with all the groomsmen as they prepped, and watching J transcribe his vows, getting deep into thought, writing them into his journal, taking them down from his computer, but also remaining playful, in-tune and jabby with his groomsmen – some playing pool, others chasing around a toddler and others commenting on how long it’s been since they last tied a tie.
The ceremony for weddings at the Coach Barn is usually in front of these tall pine trees overlooking the bay, and it is the most serene, intimate settings set amongst the backdrop of the vastness of endless lake and mountains. I loved serendipitously capturing a sailboat passing by while N + J exchanged vows.
Sophia from Wink + Willow outdid herself with the design and decor of the al fresco dinner. It’s beyond lucky when the VT weather allows for dining outside, especially in early June, and it’s an incredibly special experience.
