This one is a tough one to write about – I don’t know where to start.
M + W got in touch with me one day, I had just gotten done skiing and got a phone call from a NYC number I didn’t recognize. Typically I don’t answer these, it’s always a robo call saying “don’t hang up, do you want to be on the first page of google?” or “we have important information about extending your car warranty. But I answered, and it was M on the other line. A photographer who had shot at their venue (M & D Farm weddings are the BEST – more on this in a lil bit, this venue is the dreamiest and run by the sweetest couple) had referred them to me, and I was so thrilled when she told me the vision of her wedding, that I was available and that we clicked so quickly.
I typically don’t use my couples names on my blog because, well, I dunno why, to maintain some semblance of privacy on the world wide web, but I’ll make an exception here. I genuinely think there was some kismet, and we ended up working together because when I got their inquiry and saw that the grooms name was Walter, I was like…do I tell them my dog is named Walter? Is that weird? It’s probably weird, but HEY! I was like “I hesitated telling you this, but I love you guys because my dog’s name is also Walter…” luckily M is the coolest and was like, OMG it’s meant to be.
Fast forward to September and I pull into the most adorable farmhouse nestled in the hills of the Catskills. Mario and Daniel who own the venue are the most amazing, hospitable, kind, generous, detail oriented, fastidious, amazing human beings. I wish they could be in charge of my life. I’m so lucky to have photographed there twice, and hope to again in the future (wink, wink, nudge, nudge, calling all couples planning an M & D Farm wedding).
I have a soft spot for al fresco weddings, and the courtyard at M & D is a. to die for beautiful and b. the perfect setting for such a dinner. It feels like your transported to vacation, and who doesn’t love work feeling like vacation…The entire day was like that though, soft summer evening light and warmth. A Palpable love, and so much joy for these two joining forces.
