J + JP | And the bride wore pink… a Woodstock Inn Wedding

It’s a rare occasion when everything comes together as perfectly as J + J’s May Woodstock Inn wedding. May in Vermont is typically moody when it comes to weather. Rain showers or even snow often come in the afternoons, but not for these two. It had snowed the day before, but the morning of the 18th it was sunny and gorgeous.

The Woodstock Inn is one of my favorite, iconic vermont wedding venues. I’ve been so lucky to work with the team there for 3+ events every year, for the last 5 years running. With so many different options for ceremony and reception spaces, it always feels fresh and unique. It’s easy to escape and take portraits in nearly any type of location – fields, forest, the town, so easily, and the venue itself has so many gorgeous nooks for portraits.

J wore the most subtly pink gown by Kelly Chase Couture. Every year I get so excited to see the new dresses. I love when a bride bucks a trend (that’s the phrase…right?) and does something different. There’s usually a gorgeous dress or style that is the years “it” trend, and while there isn’t a dress that I haven’t loved, I love seeing something different and it’s rare I see colored wedding dresses.

I loved the soft palette too, spring weddings are a cross the board when it comes to colors and I often see the soft pinks, but they added in pale blue and greens which easily complimented the natural colors that May brings in VT. Dennille at Willow & Rai, formerly at Village Green has been a friend since I started shooting weddings in VT and we’ve collaborated on so many shoots and weddings together that it was such a surprise to find out that she had done all the florals for J + J.

From the couple:

Our ceremony was incredibly special to us. I loved walking down the aisle to one of our favorite songs by Lord Huron. I think it was a sweet surprise for my husband and made the ceremony very personal to us. Another favorite was our cocktail hour. The weather was absolutely perfect and it was so special to walk into the picturesque front lawn of the Woodstock Inn and see everyone who was there to celebrate with us.
